Noted filmmaker, director and actor Kevin Willmott spoke to a group of k-dub students about his experience in the industry and about the major influences that impacted his work. Willmott, a Professor of Film at the University of Kansas, attended Salina’s Marymount college as an undergrad. He then went on to successfully produce films such as “Confederate States of America”, “Destination:Planet Negro”, as well as adapt one of his early stage plays into the Spike Lee film, “Chiraq”.
Willmott was in Salina this week to discuss “Destination: Planet Negro” at the Salina Art Center Cinema. He agreed to stop by k-dub and spend some time with our own Communications students before heading back home to Lawrence.
