Do you play games? Xbox? Playstation? Tabletop Games? Retro Games?
How about cards? Do you like baseball cards, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering, or Pokemon?
If you answered yes to any of these, do you ever want somewhere to go to do those things and buy gear for cheap? The Arena is for you. Located across from Kmart and KFC, The Arena, locally owned and operated by Todd and Chris who are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, is the place where you’ll be able to buy whatever you need to support your hobbies, as well as the place to play in tournaments at a reasonable price. Almost everyone I know, including myself, has had a very specific item that we’ve needed, like a wired Guitar Hero controller or a replacement Turtle Beach headset, and we were able to find it and buy it at The Arena for less than half of what we would have paid at Gamestop or online. Also, if you play whatever it is that you play competitively, The Arena holds tournaments all the time for games like Super Smash Bros. or Magic the Gathering, and the price of entry is never over $10. Because The Arena is primarily a secondhand shop, all kinds of stuff can be found there. There’s a huge collection of games, DVDs, old cartridge games, and loose, out of pack cards. The better that Todd and Chris get to know you, the more likely they are to let you haggle them even further down on their prices. I’ve been going to The Arena on and off since I was little, and I can’t even count how many times I’ve asked to buy a few cards here or there and they told me I could just have them. Sometimes, you even find gems like a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis in a mint condition “Not for Resale” box. When you find that gem, it’ll be $5. Also, if you’re looking to get in to any of these sorts of things, The Arena is a great place to start. The people who go and play there are always friendly and willing to teach people who don’t know as much about their game as they do, all you have to do is ask.
Overall, I’d say going to The Arena if you’re in to any of this kind of stuff is an absolute must. The college gamer on a budget really can’t go wrong. Many times I’ve gone in and looked around and found something I forgot that I wanted, and after a little bit of cleanup, I always scored an amazing deal on it. And, if you’re in a pinch and need something new for your Xbox or your Playstation tonight and you don’t want to drop a ton of money on it, The Arena most likely has you covered.
Plus, you can always swing by Maggie Mae’s or KFC and grab a drink or a bite to eat.
