The Kansas Wesleyan men’s and women’s soccer team are off to a fantastic start in KCAC play. After both teams struggled in the non-conference portion of the schedule, the women are 4-1 in conference play and the men are 4-0-1.
Last night, the teams traveled to Nebraska to take on York College.
The women won the game 3-2 thanks to goals from Michelle Rodriguez, Michelle Rios-Buza, and Sonja Lopez. Daisy Bingham made six saves in the winning effort. Krysta Catone leads the team with 4 goals, after scoring a hat trick against McPherson earlier in the week, while Alyssa Skobis leads the team with two assists.
The men improved to 4-0-1 after last night’s win against York, 2-1, to stay undefeated in conference play. Jose Escobedo scored to draw the game level in the 31st minute, his team leading fifth goal of the season. Jose Rivera scored the game winning goal in the 87th minute to seal the game to keep the Coyotes in second play in the KCAC Standings. Daniel Huizar assisted on both goals and Luis Barrera made five stops in goal.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday at Tabor College and on Saturday at home against Avila University. Women play at 5 pm and Men play 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game.
