Maintaining Good Mental Health During Quarantine

With all the craziness going on in the world at the moment it can be very easy to lose your sense of positivity. However now more than ever it is important to stay positive and not allow yourself to become depressed. Easier said than done, here are a few ways to make the process a little easier on yourself:

First going outside whether it be to sit on the porch or go for a walk, the Vitamin D from the sunlight will have a great increase on your overall mood. Getting some fresh air and sunlight is not only a good way to use some free time, but also a great way to improve your overall health, both physically and mentally.

Another good thing to remember is staying in touch with friends and family regularly can help with the sense of loneliness one may experience. Being isolated by yourself is a quick way to become depressed but a simple phone call or text message can help a lot. Hearing someone else’s voice or the voice of someone you haven’t seen in a while is a good way to not only maintain relationships during this time but give yourself a sense of companionship through the lockdown.

Finally, one of the easiest ways to stay positive is to remember that this is out of your control. There is nothing you can or could have done to prevent or change the circumstances. Additionally, reach out and see what you can do to help others who might be feeling the same way, as they are likely in the same situation you are in. Understanding that we have to make the best of this situation and not allow it to ruin our mental health is the only way we can truly maintain happiness throughout these uncertain times.
