Spring Theatre Update
Written by Abby Wray on March 10, 2021
Even during a pandemic and the coldest winter in decades, ‘the show must go on’! And boy are there many big theatrical plans not only at KWU but at Salina Community Theatre too. Supporting local art and artists is more important now than ever so make sure you check out at least one of these magnificent upcoming shows!
The KWU theatre department has big plans for April. Working: The Musical was the planned show for the spring semester but sadly once it was cast, there was a series of misfortunate events that occurred that led to the show being changed entirely. Now the plan for mid-April is Little Shop of Horrors, a very famous musical following Seymour and his discovery of a very strange and interesting plant.
Hopefully Fitzpatrick auditorium will be packed (as much as safely allowed) with audience members to support the cast and crew. Ethan Badders has been cast to play Seymour, Elizabeth Schaefer will play Audrey, and Jordan Waymaster (KWU alumni and staff member) will play the plant, Audrey 2. To see the full cast and crew, make sure you show up in April to support the pack!
Salina Community Theatre is currently performing The Game’s Afoot until March 6th and then they quickly go into rehearsals for their next show, Steel Magnolias April 2nd-April 18th. Both of these are fantastic play opportunities for entertainment. If you’re looking for something more musical however, SCT is producing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this summer June 4th-June 27th. There is something for everyone in the Salina theatre scene so enjoy!
