Momoya Ramen and Sushi

Momoya Ramen and Sushi is a new, locally owned and operated restaurant on 9th street next to Modern Nails. It is one of my favorite spots in Salina and always fulfills my sushi cravings. They have a great variety of food that includes sushi, sashimi, ramen, rice and teriyaki bowls, soup, fried rice, udon, and much more. They are a dine-in restaurant, but also offer take out, and delivery via Eat Street and Door Dash.
One of my favorite deals is their lunch special, which runs from 11-3 pm Monday through Friday. The special includes two or three rolls for $11-$25, depending on which rolls you choose. It is a great deal considering most of their Special Rolls will run you about $12, which is the average price for rolls at most sushi restaurants. If sushi isn’t your thing, they offer teriyaki and rice bowls, udon noodles, and a couple varieties of fried rice, which are all under $11 and are a huge portion of food for the price. I think this is a great place to take your friends who haven’t tried sushi yet or maybe aren’t that into it, as they have a wide selection of basic rolls, like a California Roll or Spicy Tuna Roll, that would be a great, less intimidating, introduction into sushi. They also have boba, which isn’t my favorite boba I’ve ever had, but is still a pretty rare find in Kansas. Some of my favorite sushi rolls on the menu are the Rock Roll, 101 Roll, and Super Crunchy Roll. I am also a big fan of their Teriyaki Chicken and Udon Noodles. For appetizers, I would recommend the Gyoza, Crab Jalapeño, and Crab Rangoon.
If you want to know how Momoya compares to Diamaru, a local sushi and hibachi restaurant, I personally think Momoya’s sushi, teriyaki and rice bowls, and noodles are more delicious and affordable. If you want the Hibachi experience, then you will have to go to Diamaru as Momoya does not offer that, but if you want anything else on their menu, I would recommend Momoya.
Another one of my favorite things about Momoya is that you can tell this is a family run business. Every time I go here I always see the same faces and they are always so friendly. You can tell that they truly care about their customers through the quality of their food and quick and friendly service. It is also always extremely clean every time I dine in.
Overall, I give Momoya 5 out 5 stars! I highly recommend KWU students to either dine in or order take out from Momoya. It is so important that we support these locally owned restaurants, especially during the pandemic. Be on the lookout for more food reviews in the future!
