KWU staff member Julie Conley said “The Salina Education Foundation has provided tremendous support to education students at Kansas Wesleyan.  Several KWU Teacher Education students have benefitted from the LIFT program since it was first awarded in 2006.  This program provides loans to students pursuing education degrees.  If hired by U.S.D. 305, up to $5,000 of each recipient’s loan is forgiven each year they teach for the district. We have two current KWU students who are LIFT program recipients.  The new RISE scholarship program will have a positive impact on the KWU Teacher Education department by providing scholarships to selected transfer students coming to KWU. with underrepresented groups to be the focus. There is a dire shortage of educators to fill essential teaching positions, so it is exciting to have these programs available to recruit potential educators to KWU”.
