Men’s Basketball New Transfers

The Kansas Wesleyan University Men’s Basketball team welcomes 12 new transfers to the 2026 season. The group of transfers includes players from the Junior College level all the way up to the Division 2 level.

Coming into the year the team’s goal is to establish a winning culture and have a good family dynamic. With only three returners, who played varsity time last year, the team will have a lot of adjustments to make. 

Welcome the New Team 

This group is headlined by seniors Aaron “AJ” Walker and Brandon “BJ” Redic. AJ Walker comes from Columbia College in Missouri, which is close to home for him since he is from St. Louis Missouri. During Walker’s last season at Columbia, he played against Kansas Wesleyan. After coming to KWU, Walker said that “the biggest thing in coming here was just coming to a team where I can compete with a family”.

Walker brings a lot of winning attitudes to the team at KWU. This is proven by his previous season at Columbia he won 30 games and hosted the National Tournament. Now, the other senior, BJ Redic, brings a different pool of knowledge, since he comes from the highest level of play out of the transfers. BJ Redic played at the Division 2 level at Missouri Southern State University. With former experience playing D2 football, he brings an intensified competitive mindset. 

New School, Same Ties 

Added to the group of transfers are two different sets of college teammates. 

The first pair of teammates are juniors, Jayden Jones and Kavon Philips. These two both bring successful insight to the team because of their success they had at Des Moines Area Community College. The other pair of teammates are juniors, Dakarai Davis and Jamari Franklin. These two both came from Southeast Community College and transferred into KWU to compete at a high level. 

The next two transfers to be covered are juniors, Quincey Kidd and Jace Steinmetz. These two are both close to home coming from Garden City Kansas and Topeka Kansas. Jace attended Garden City Community College and Quincey attended Seward Community College before transferring to KWU. 

The next pair of transfers are both from the Houston area in Texas. Chukwuma Egbo is a junior who comes from the University of St. Thomas and Tobin Triplett is a sophomore who comes from SAU Tech. When asked about his reasoning for committing to KWU, Triplett said “ I wanted to play under a good coach and Murdock, and to come to a place where I can win and get better every day.” 

The last two transfers on the KWU Men’s Basketball team are Riley Wolf and Adonai Leake. Wolf is a junior from Springfield, Missouri and comes from North Dakota State College of Science and Leake is a junior who comes from Dallas North Lake Community College. 

Head Coach Jordan Murdock is openly confident in his group of transfers. The group seamlessly meshed with returners, Braylin Goins, Alec Grill, and Jason Juiye. Posting a record of 14-14 last season, Murdock made it clear that is not the standard he wants to instill moving forward.  With only 3 varsity returners, one can assume the “fresh start” feeling that the coach and his team possessed approaching the off-season. 

What New Can Do 

A new team can present new challenges; but can also present new goals and opportunities. Winning a championship is the first central goal, but the coach also expects excellence in the classroom and community as well. The new group makes their debut on the court on Oct. 24th vs Northeastern College (Iowa) at home in Maybee Arena.
