The Heartbeats On The Sidelines
Written by Elise Alva on October 9, 2026
A hard fought battle ended in a tough loss this last Saturday afternoon as KWU fell short to Evangel in a 16-24 field battle. Despite the ref’s playing off some interesting calls our Coyotes gave it their all on the field and the energy really wouldn’t have been there without the help of our hearts on the sidelines. Dance, Cheer and Pep Band really brought the energy between timeouts and during touchdowns, they were all unstoppable.

Dance hyping the crowd up
Our dance team is definitely looking to take the title at the Coyote Classic this coming January and with their timing and teamwork they just might. Their halftime performance titled “Gaga Gameday” took the crowd by surprise because these ladies and gent have been working nonstop to perfect their routine by their next game day and they definitely put the E in excellence.

Putting the pep in everyone’s steps
The Howl is known for putting the pep in everybody’s steps and im not just saying that because their our schools pep band. Director Jake Montoya knows how to light his athletes’ fire in order for them to perform their very best on every home game day. With songs like Seven Nation Army and Runaway Baby there is no question about the hype factor these student-athletes bring to the table.

Emma Haag nailing her electric bass parts
Our Cheer team are more of the silent killers, they are the ones always by the crowd no matter if our team is winning by 50 or getting blown out by 20. Led by Captains Abigail Meese and Kyiella Kindlesparger these ladies know how to keep cheering on our crowd even when the going can get tough. From freshmen to seniors every girl on this team knows the responsibility they have to keep cheering up and they execute expectations every time.
