Tailgating = Good Times Before Kickoff On KWU’s Family Weekend

Family Weekend at Kansas Wesleyan University was definitely one to remember. The need to keep the vibes up for such a long weekend was something our campus focused heavily on. Before our Coyotes took the field Saturday, Sept 19 various families, fans and students gathered to have a filled afternoon with food, music and positive vibes all around. The spirit of our Coyote was rushing through our veins and highlighted the element of community that Salina as a whole has.

2:00pm

The afternoon festivities began at the tailgate kickoff and family fun. Having live music really brought the energy in their performances being the first hour of entertainment. For the little ones who didn’t really take an interest in the music, they had a fun opportunity to play on jumping balloons until the walk of champions commenced. In all of these activities families and friends got the chance to spend more time together before the football game even started.

A pregame live interview with a Kansas Wesleyan Coach was scheduled as apart of the afternoons packed load. Attendees around the area were able to hear truths from someone who knew the game and knew his team well, along with a couple of silly questions to finish the interview off. All of this pregame hype was doubled once the walk of champions occurred. Led by our schools drum line, the excitement to see the football team get ready to take on Bethel College was so energetic. With the help of the cheer and dance team the football boys went off to warm up 3 hours before game time which says a lot about their coaching staff and their commitment to becoming great. 3:15pm

Here at Kansas Wesleyan we take pride in being a Christ centered campus so we always love spreading gods words and love to people who may or may not be needing it at this point in their lives. KDubs own Praise Band wrapped up tailgate time with a couple of songs preaching the lords joy and value he placed in us as his creations. In just a couple of songs you were able to feel the beloved spirit move throughout your body. Though their set list was cut short due to the rain starting up and the need for their instruments to be safe and sound, they were still able to wrap up tailgate entertainment with a bang!

6:00pm to Midnight

Weather truly became the star of the night because it went from random mid-day spritz to a severe thunderstorm delay pushing the game back 4 hours. For more information on the game and its aftermath; Alyssa Smith’s recap on game night is one to read!
