Kansas Wesleyan starts early in the Spring semester preparing students for what is to come. A checklist is provided so that the student’s anxiety can be lessened as they prepare for the big day.

During the pandemic years, the university prepared in a different way, while students were studying from their dorm room or at home. Since large gatherings did not take place, a graduation box was prepared and shipped to each student as we cautiously prepared. The provost’s office realized the students appreciated the celebration box, so that became a new tradition.

President Thompson 2022 Letter of Celebration

The Grad Finale was created! An event where students could pick up their cap and gown. Inside the celebration box was also a note from the KWU Alumni Association, confetti, honor cords, a KWU pendant, and more.

Students were encouraged to attend the April 13th event in the Student Activities Center on Brown Mezzanine, pick up their celebration box in person, and visit various department tables to receive their cap & gown, a letter of congratulations from Matt Thompson, President and CEO of KWU, a box of the famous ooey, gooey bars and more.

The letter from President Thompson states “Yes, after all of your hard work, you are about to become a graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University. Our faculty, staff, trustees and friends of the university are so proud of each and every one of you, and cannot wait to see where your journey will lead you.”

The Kansas Wesleyan University Class of 2022 Commencement will take place Saturday, May 14 at Tony’s Pizza Event Center. More information can be found here.
