Kansas Wesleyan University recently celebrated a successful inaugural scholarship gala. Over 300 guests joined KWU in not only honoring the guest speaker, Former Kansas Governor William Graves, but also felt the highlight of the evening, which was the focus on Kansas Wesleyan students and the opportunities that scholarships provide.

The evening was supported by a gift from the Franzen family. Al and Kathy Franzen have established an endowed scholarship at KWU. They brought 32 family members to Salina for the event, coming from eight states through the U.S. During the event, it was announced that the Franzen family was contributing a gift of $267,000 Kansas Wesleyan.

As it was said earlier, students were the focus of the evening. A prelude to the evening’s dinner and program was a 24 KWU student introduction. To keep the students as the main focus, each of them sat at one of the 24-32 tables and were able to share their KWU stories with the other guests.
