Written by on November 26, 2024

It’s not often we get the chance to highlight the work of one of our own Student Media content creators, but Freshman Ava Duerr, from Maryland, is a Marketing major and player for the Kansas Wesleyan University Flag Football team has already made her mark as a student producer. But Duerr’s story is more complex than average. Not only does she have a talent for finding interesting stories to tell, she also has her own challenges to overcome, even more than the “average” Freshman dealing with first-year challenges. In this story, NewsDesk reporter Jacob Fallon tells us about how Duerr deals with those challenges and how it shapes her experience as a first-year college student.

Duerr is also known as a standout as part of the KWU Student Media production team. With a talented eye for video production and a knack for finding interesting stories to tell about the people and places on campus, she has quickly established a name for herself as a talent to watch. You can see some of Duerr’s student media work here , here, and  here
