Wright Earns KCAC Pitcher of the Week Honors
Thalen Wright of Kansas Wesleyan University turned in a performance to remember and now he’s being recognized for it.
Wright has been named the KCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played February 23 through March 1. The award is voted on by conference sports information directors and presented by Athletic Solutions.
Dominant on the Mound
Wright was in complete control during the Coyotes’ 6–0 win over University of Saint Mary.
He threw eight shutout innings and struck out 11 batters. He allowed just three hits all game.
In three different innings, he struck out two batters. In the seventh inning, he struck out the side. Saint Mary never advanced a runner past second base.
Wright set the tone from the first pitch and never let up.
Coyotes Stay Hot
With the series sweep over the Spires, Kansas Wesleyan University improved to 15–2 overall and 9–0 in KCAC play. The Coyotes continue to build momentum as conference competition heats up.
Next, KWU hits the road for a midweek matchup against York University. After that, they return home to host NAIA Preseason No. 12-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University at The Dean Stadium.
If Wright’s latest outing is any indication, the Coyotes’ pitching staff is more than ready for the challenge ahead.
A Leader on and off the Field
Wright’s performance not only highlights his talent, but also his growth as a leader for the Coyotes. His ability to command the strike zone, stay composed under pressure, and trust his defense speaks to his maturity on the mound. As conference play continues, KWU will look to Wright to anchor the rotation and keep the team’s strong start rolling.
Building Momentum for a Big Stretch
This stretch of the season can define a team, and Kansas Wesleyan University is rising to the moment. Strong pitching, timely hitting, and steady defense have fueled the Coyotes’ early success. With Wright leading the way on the mound, KWU has both the confidence and the consistency needed to compete with the top teams in the conference and beyond.
