Salina Community to host largest marathon in Kansas

The Salina Community is getting ready to host the largest marathon in Kansas. At 8am on Saturday, November 5th, at least 3,280 competitors will step to the line to compete in a variety of races that vary in distance. Along with the marathon and half-marathon, other racers will be competing in the marathon and half-marathon relay, 5k run and walk, and a half-mile race for kids. The races kick-off at 8 am on Saturday with the half and full marathon, with the other races starting shortly after. The kids half-mile race will begin at 11 AM. All races will begin and end in downtown Salina.
Salina Crossroads Marathon
Starting in 2022, sponsored by Vortex Companies and local businesses, Salina Crossroads Marathon has become the largest marathon event in Kansas.
Competitors from all 50 states, including countries Mexico, Columbia, Canada, and Botswana will be represented. The marathon is certified by the USA Track and Field, and is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
Volunteering
If you are interested in volunteering, Salina Crossroads Marathon is still looking for volunteers to help with the marathon. Volunteers are needed to help monitor the course, and help at the start and finish line. There are two different shifts that are available beginning at 7:45 a.m.-11 a.m. or 10:45 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Salina Crossroads is planning on hosting a training for all volunteers beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3rd. Volunteers will also receive a t-shirt to wear on the day of the race. If you are interested, there is a sign-up link on their website.
Awards
An awards ceremony will take place after the conclusion of the kids half-mile race. All runners will receive a participation medal. Winners of the half and full marathons will receive a trophy, additionally the top 3 male and female runners of the half and full marathons will receive a cash prize.
