Family Weekend 2025: KWU Baseball Shines at Dean Evans Stadium

Kansas Wesleyan University wrapped up Family Weekend 2025 with a full day of KCAC fall baseball at Dean Evans Stadium. This exciting event offered families a perfect combination of competitive action, student engagement, and warm community spirit.

A Sunday Full of Baseball Action

To close out the weekend, KWU hosted multiple 7-inning exhibition games featuring freshmen and sophomores from  The event gave underclassmen the valuable opportunity to take

the field and compete in front of their families and peers—many for the first time in their college careers.

Transitioning into the day’s highlights, the KWU Coyotes made a strong statement.

They opened with a dominant win over Bethany College and followed up with a hard-fought victory against McPherson College. These matchups not only showcased talent but also allowed coaches to evaluate early-season development.

Families, Food, and Fall Weather

Meanwhile, the stands at Dean Evans Stadium filled with enthusiastic families from both KWU and visiting KCAC programs. The sunny, early autumn weather created the perfect backdrop for a day of baseball and bonding.

In addition, upperclassmen from the KWU baseball team went above and beyond by grilling hotdogs and cheeseburgers for everyone in attendance—completely free of charge. This thoughtful gesture reflected KWU’s team-first culture and commitment to community involvement.

Coach Eric Romero Reflects on the Day

KWU assistant coach and former standout player Eric Romero shared his thoughts on the event, stating:

“Family Day is always the best. It gives us a chance to compete against other teams, play in front of a great crowd, and build momentum heading into the season.

He also spoke about the emotional impact of family support, especially for first-year athletes:

“Being away from home your first year can be tough. When my family came out to support me, it gave me confidence and made me feel like I belonged.”
