Welcome Back! I’m Jacob Fallon, and today we’ll be taking a look at Umami Bowl. Open for about 10 months Umami Bowl has become a hot spot here in Salina. It does have a smaller menu, however customers give food quality and service high praise.

I got this place recommended to me when it first opened. I was never able to get around it due to other projects I had going on. I checked the reviews before going and I was stunned. 4.6/5 stars on Google Reviews! 4.9/5 Stars on Facebook! with over hundreds of reviews. The Food of The Day

The initial atmosphere was inviting and the space felt cozy. While I expected a traditional sit-down restaurant, the service model is similar to Panda Express or Chipotle.

I ordered a brown rice bowl featuring chicken, shrimp, and green beans, topped with teriyaki sauce and ginger.

The first bite was delicious, a “chef’s kiss” and a 10/10. The meal was flavorful and reminiscent of hibachi but at half the cost. Everything worked well together; even my cameraman, Russ, said that “the smell lived up to the taste.”

Review: Chicken and Shrimp Bowl

The meal cost about $20, which included both chicken and shrimp. The price felt fair but wasn’t a bargain, earning a 6.2/10.

The portion size was decent; while not massive, the staff filled the bowl to capacity. Service was quick, with the ordering process being the longest part of the visit. The employee was very friendly, resulting in a 9/10 for service.

As for the food, it was a 10/10. The dish was packed with flavor and had a slight “kick” that really sold it for me.

Summary:

• Service: 9.5/10, quick, friendly, patient
• Price: 6.2/10, not terribly priced, solid portion sizes
• Food: 10/10, standing ovation, new favorite place.
