Men’s basketball returned last night on February 9th at home at the Mabee Arena to take on the eagles of Avila who are currently 9-19, while the coyotes improved to 18-8 last night after defeating the eagles in a blowout that some may decide to call it.  The eagles didn’t really come out to play from the looks of it, the only lead that the eagles were able to get on the coyotes was 1 point which was at the beginning of the game that was at 3-2. After that the coyotes took off and just kept scoring and scoring which was the buildup the upcoming blowout that many were saying before the game was even done, the coyotes started off strong with leading the eagles by 15 when the first quartered ended 35-20. By the first 7-8 minutes of the game the coyotes already had a 10-point lead and just kept building from there. The eagles just couldn’t play up to the level of the yotes it was just too much for them to compete at this point. The coyotes couldn’t have gotten this win without the help of freshmen Easton Hunter who’s from Colwich Kansas who ended the night with 30 points. As well as the other two helps from Jun Murdock and Trey Duffey who had a combine 26 points all together. The coyotes ended the night with a 28-point lead win which was 85 to 57, which helped the coyotes get a step closer to getting a secure playoff spot. This is what was said after the game about Hunter “On Easton Hunter and the team full of injuriesWe’ve had a lot of guys banged up and injured for a while. I don’t remember the last time we had that actual starting lineup on the floor and actually healthy. Jun went through a hamstring, Cory went through a wrist and got sick, Easton has been through a groin. Stuff just constantly was piling up. Marcel got sick, and then we are trying to get Easton back, so we hold him out last week. It’s just been a lot. As well as what would be expected next Saturday against Bethany college “On the Swedes Saturday is a completely different team. They have really good bigs, they play good defense, they’re aggressive, and we have to just enjoy this one tonight and get ready for our rival.  You can catch the coyotes again next week on the 12th of February when they take on school rival Bethany college at Bethany over at Lindsborg Kansas at 8:00 PM. The Coyotes will look to Improve to 19-8 by the end of night on the 12th.
