Praise Band Intern Petrie Moua

Petrie Moua is a junior accounting major at Kansas Wesleyan. He is a tech intern as well as a Rise Up! intern. Moua has been a part of Rise Up! since his freshman year playing percussion for the praise band at Kansas Wesleyan.

On top of the internship, Moua also plays percussion for the band. “I just enjoy playing music for church and being around people who also enjoy playing as well. It is always fun and motivating,” He admitted.

This is not Moua’s first time being in a praise band, “I’ve always played at my church and wanted to stay connected in playing.”

When Moua was asked why he decided to be a part of campus ministry he commented, “I decided to join because I thought I could learn a lot about how to help organize the service.”

When asked about what he thinks are strengths and something he struggles with within the band he said, “Something I like about Monday Night Alive is how much we still try to enjoy ourselves even though we do not have many people show up. I would say something I struggle with in Monday Night Alive is trying to reach out to people, even when I reach out, it can be hard to see if they will show up or contact me back.”

Rise Up! has led a lot of songs but when Moua was asked about his favorite song from the praise band he admitted, “I don’t really have a favorite song but if I had to choose ‘Blessed Be Your Name,’ it is a good pace to play and I have always enjoyed the song when

ever it is on.”

Moua described Rise Up! as “a very welcoming group and place to come and just enjoy what our many passionate speakers have to say and get to listen to music that the praise band has worked on. Even if you may not be religious we do not judge and would like for all to come and just come and experience the evening.”

At the end Moua had this to say, “Over this past year, we have definitely grown in size which is a very great start since we were pretty small over the past three years since I started. One of my best memories is seeing Monday Night Alive grow from when I first started to now.”
