Kansas Wesleyan University is getting ready for a huge event: Homecoming 2025. People love the football game and the parties, but everyone also waits for the new Homecoming Court. Marvin Mitchell, Coordinator of Student Engagement, runs the court selection process.

Mitchell made the steps very clear. The court process is currently in full swing. Initially, nominations come from specific campus groups. Each club and athletic team on campus gets to nominate one candidate. This system ensures every part of the student body gets a voice in the selection.
Step 1: Clubs and Teams Choose Nominees
This unique nomination process has already finished. As of today, the university has a pool of 17 nominees ready for the next round. These students typically demonstrate strong leadership and active campus involvement. Furthermore, the Student Development office confirms that all 17 nominees meet the basic rules set by the school.
Mitchell shared: “Each club and team can nominate someone to be a part of it, and the voting for the court will happen Wednesday when students return from fall break.”
Step 2: The Campus Vote Narrows the Field
Next, the school moves to a crucial vote that will narrow the field. On Wednesday, October 15, every student receives an email for a survey. Students must use this to vote for the candidates they think should advance. This vote will take the large group of 17 nominees and select the Top 8 students who will make up the official Homecoming Court. “
Moreover, the chosen students reflect many different interests and dedicated people across the university. This vote requires students to make a choice among peers.
Step 3: Homecoming Week
Once the official Top 8 Homecoming Court is announced, the excitement grows fast. The final vote happens during Homecoming Week. Students use their email for voting again. They pick the single King and single Queen from the official court. The office counts the final votes carefully. They keep the winners a secret until the crowning ceremony.
“The week of homecoming, the court will have small events to attend to, like the pep-rally and the parade, so people can know who they are,” said Mitchell.
What to Do Now
All students should watch for the crucial email on October 15. Therefore, students must check their inboxes that day to participate in the vote. Then, during homecoming week, keep an eye out for the email for final votes. Students should think about peers who inspire them before voting. Consequently, the choice celebrates students who make the campus better.
Above all, the Homecoming Court is an honor that celebrates outstanding campus citizenship. To see the full homecoming week schedule, click here!
