What to Expect from the Coyotes with First Year Coach Murdock

What Has Changed, For Men’s Basketball

The Kansas Wesleyan Men’s basketball team has had its ups and downs in recent years, coming off a 5-10 season last year and taking a huge loss to Ottawa in the last game of the season. Kansas Wesleyan Basketball clearly has been missing a piece that is affecting the overall mission of being the best in the KCAC.  As adjustments have been made by the move of assistance coach Jordan Murdock to head coach, the Coyotes need to start rallying up some spirit and hope for this year’s upcoming season. Outside of the coaching changes, there is a significant number of freshmen and transfers that have recently re amped the team alongside Murdock’s recent promotion.

Murdock reported to the KWU Coyotes basketball news outlet that he’s upset about having a “slightly late start” to the season that he argued could have been used to allow his team to develop even further before the first game of the season, but he plans to make the best of the situation by taking a day by day approach with his team with the hopes of creating a impactful season as a first time head coach for a school he’s shown prior dedication too. He further reports to Bob Davidson, media writer for KWU, that “Everybody’s just trying to figure stuff out the first weekend. It’s about the season and who can fix their errors early and get to the back half of the conference schedule and put themselves in position to make a run at getting into the national tournament.”

With that National tournament on Murdock’s mind and consistency in finding good spots for players to adapt and adjust in there is no reason why we can’t see a new and improved Coyotes basketball program in the up and upcoming 2025-26 season. With the recent influx of students and the signal that Murdock is sending to his team and the KWU community I can’t imagine a season that doesn’t show great success.
