The Fall 2025 art gallery was done by Kansas Wesleyan University Assistant professor of Graphic Design, Andrew Baker! The art gallery has a central theme of Bioharonics.
“This is looking at genetically modified organisms and visual design system for the principles of music.” Andrew Baker
Baker is interested in the way that people perceive and process information. Baker said “Music is the expression of the past, and the present, and helps define the course of time.” Bakers work explores the abstract and mystery communication device, by developing visuals that assist in understanding the complex musical elements. Some examples include pitch, dynamics, tempo, rhythm, texture, form, time, and harmony.
Bakers work has been able to help educators translate musical elements into useful visual presentations to improve current teaching methods. His work is currently infuse at Eastman School of Music. Baker explains “The publication is introduced during the beginning stages of musical curriculums.” His intentions is that it can also serve as a model for other kinds of visual communication problems.
For this exhibition, he selected pieces that best embody the concept of bioharmonics. “Each work was chosen for its ability to translate abstract systems-into visual and experimental forms that invite interpretations. Baker hopes that visitors leave his exhibition with a sense of curiosity and reflection about how loud, visuals, and science shape the understanding of the world.
