Students Show Up to Wildn’ Out Night

Campus Unites for Laughter and Freestyle Rhymes

The Student Activities Center was buzzing with energy last Friday night for Wildn’ Out Night. The event was inspired by the popular TV show hosted by Nick Cannon. While there were only a small number of students competing on stage, despite this, the event was well attended and filled the SAC with a crowd eager for a good time. Hosted by the Multi-Cultural Student Union, the event featured music and a humorous atmosphere. A stage at the front of the room was the center of attention, where two teams of students prepared to face off in a series of improv and rap battles. The host, Sidney Washington, warmed up the audience as the first game began.

First, was the most popular event: “Wildstyle.” Both teams lined up on stage for a freestyle rap battle. With a faster beat, the teams took turns making humorous jokes about each other. The jokes were all good-natured and focused on funny habits or fashion choices. The atmosphere was friendly, and the teams laughed at each other’s jokes. The playful competition showed the strong bonds between the students on stage. The host had the audience decide the winner by cheering for their favorite team. The cheers were loud, but in the end, both teams h high-fived, proving that the night was more about fun than winning.

Got Props?

Next, the students played “Got Props?” a game that put the teams’ creative skills to the test. Contestants were handed a mix of random objects, from an umbrella to a folding chair. Their mission was to use these items to act out a funny scene. One student used the umbrella as a boat, and another used the chair as a seat in a car. The silly performance brought laughter from the audience.

Finally, “Talkin’ Spit,” a game that relied on speed and wit. As a beat filled the room, a player from each team had to create a freestyle rap on a random topic shouted out by the host. The students had the opportunity to make up clever rhymes about everyday life, like boring textbooks and everyday items. The crowd cheered for the funniest lines, and the students’ fast thinking showed their quick improvisation.

The MCSU puts on many events throughout campus. There are many students that signed up to participate, but few that actually did. Furthermore, while well attended, the event did not have as much participation as anticipated. However, make sure to stay tuned for their next event so you can participate!
