According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, in 2024, Kansas had 559 residential deaths, across all drug overdoses. While this is on a downward trend from the last five years, 500 people is just over half of KWUs student body.
What is Naloxone?
These Naloxone boxes will be temperature-controlled and easily accessible for universities. Naloxone is a nasal spray that, in ideal circumstances, reverses the effects of opioids.

- Public awareness campaigns have urged people to avoid unverified pills while promoting Naloxone use.
Student Accessibility
At KWU the Naloxone box is extremely accessible for students. Located in the Student Activities Center, just outside Mabee gym. These boxes will be refilled as KWU requests, from the Emily’s Hope program.
