Game One

Kansas Wesleyan dominated Bethany College 11-0 in game one of a three-game series Saturday at Dean Evans Stadium.

The Coyotes jumped out to any early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Garrett Garfield and Carter Allen powered the offense, each hitting homeruns, Allen drove in three.

The Coyotes capitalized on Bethany’s pitching struggles, drawing 11 walks.

On the mound, Kansas Wesleyan’s Brett Maddock (6-2) was stellar, pitching five shutout innings while striking out 10.

Relievers Riley Gwin and Thalen Wright combined for three scoreless innings; the staff held Bethany to just four hits.

Bethany’s starter struggled, allowing six runs and walking seven just over two innings.

Bethany’s offense never found its rhythm, striking out 15 times and leaving seven runners on base.

Bethany had 17 players suspended for this game due to an altercation they had earlier in the week against McPherson college.

Game Two

Kansas Wesleyan continued its dominance over Bethany College with a commanding 13-3 victory in game two.

The Coyotes exploded offensively, scoring in four consecutive innings, including a five-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach. Fernando Ruvalcaba led the charge, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a home run and a double. Tyer Favretto, Joe Finder, and Drew Wardell also went deep, contributing to Kansas Wesleyan’s offensive showcase.

Bethany showed signs of life in the fourth and fifth innings, with Perez and Cuevas each launching solo home runs. However, their offense was otherwise stifled by Kansas Wesleyan’s pitching. Nathan Righi (5-1) earned the win, allowing three runs on three hits over five innings while striking out five. Reliever Riley Gwin followed with two scoreless innings.

Bethany’s pitching struggled, with Luis Morales (0-1) surrendering seven runs over four innings. Flores and Arrocha were unable to stop the bleeding, allowing six more runs in relief.

Game three

The Coyotes rounded out the series with another dominant victory 15-4.

The Coyotes’ offense was relentless, scoring in every inning but the sixth. The game was effectively decided by a four-run fourth inning, with additional runs added throughout. Five home runs were hit by Kansas Wesleyan, including a two-homer performance by Garrett Garfield and solo shots by Jacob Williamson, Tyler Favretto, and Carter Allen. Favretto also added a double, contributing to the Coyotes’ 11-hit total.

Bethany was able to score in the second, third, and fourth innings. Crist homered for the Swedes, while Perez, Bones, and Smith each contributed hits. However, their offensive efforts fell short as they only managed four runs across the game.

Nathan Galusha (5-2) earned the win after throwing four innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five. For Bethany, the loss was attributed to Nieves, who allowed six runs in just 1.1 innings of work. Relievers Martinez and Figueroa- struggled as well, giving up additional runs in their respective outings.

Kansas Wesleyan’s record improved to 22-11 (17-4 KCAC), while Bethany fell to 12-21 (8-15 KCAC).
