The offense was firing on all cylinders Tuesday for the Kansas Wesleyan University baseball team. They delivered a dominant doubleheader sweep over University of the Southwest. The offense piled up 43 total runs in a pair of decisive victories.
From the first inning of game one, the Coyotes established control at the plate. A leadoff home run by Sophomre Niko Olson set the tone, and KWU’s lineup never eased up. Despite Southwest rallying to tie the game after an early deficit, Kansas Wesleyan responded with poise and power. The Coyotes erupted for a massive 12-run sixth inning that broke the game open for good.
Several Coyotes delivered standout performances. Coulson Riggs paced the attack with four hits in the opener, consistently finding gaps and igniting rallies. Logan Arndt powered the offense with two home runs and seven RBIs in game one, anchoring lineup. Contributions came from everywhere — Carter Allen added multiple RBIs, and the Coyotes’ ability to string together quality at-bats proved overwhelming.
While Southwest showed resilience in clawing back early, KWU’s response demonstrated a veteran presence. Rather than allowing momentum to shift, the Coyotes countered immediately with aggressive baserunning and extra-base hits, reasserting control and turning a competitive contest into a statement win.

Game two followed a similar script.
Kansas Wesleyan wasted no time applying pressure, building an early lead and never allowing the Mustangs to settle in. The Coyotes continued their offensive barrage, scoring 19 runs behind another balanced team effort. Arndt remained red-hot at the plate, adding more extra-base power, while Riggs, Allen, Tyler Nordyke, Zac Goldenberg, and Chase Aurand all contributed key hits to keep innings alive.
The depth of the Coyotes’ lineup was perhaps the most impressive takeaway. Rather than relying on one breakout inning, KWU consistently produced traffic on the bases, forcing Southwest pitchers into difficult situations throughout both games. Timely hitting with runners in scoring position and aggressive situational execution highlighted a team beginning to find rhythm early in the season.
On the mound, the Coyotes did enough to support the explosive offense, limiting damage after Southwest’s early push in the first game and keeping the Mustangs quiet in the nightcap. With strong defensive plays behind them, Kansas Wesleyan maintained control and avoided giving Southwest extended opportunities to shift momentum.
The sweep reinforces Kansas Wesleyan’s offensive potential and overall depth. Scoring 43 runs across two games is no small feat, and the Coyotes demonstrated they can win with both power and sustained pressure.
As the season progresses, performances like Tuesday’s doubleheader offer a glimpse of what this Coyotes squad can be when it plays complete baseball — disciplined at the plate, opportunistic on the bases, and resilient when challenged. If the offensive surge continues, Kansas Wesleyan will remain a formidable presence moving forward.
